In April 2022, we at nottuo were responsible for the branding design, architectural design, and signage planning of the authentic ryokan “Roka Naoshimaryokan” that opened in Naoshima, Kagawa.

The project spanned three years, during which we assisted from the beginning, handling planning, brand core development, naming, logo, envelopes, business cards, various amenities, room wear, uniforms, original merchandise development, original product packaging, website, and architectural design.
With the slogan “Creating a World-Class Authentic Ryokan in Naoshima,” we designed everything with the intention of welcoming guests from around the world, leading to a successful opening.
Since its opening, it has been featured in domestic and international media, received the Good Design Award, and has welcomed guests from abroad in the post-COVID era, truly becoming a “world-class ryokan.” This success is a testament to the efforts of the on-site staff and all involved.
