Nottuo was in charge of designing two new types of guest rooms proposed by “Kifu no Sato” in Okayama Yunogo Onsen.
Semi-Suite New Japanese Style Room “Wabisuke
This semi-suite Japanese-style room with a lowered ceiling has a high quality appearance reminiscent of a tea ceremony room. The room was designed in the Onmyoshin style, using natural materials such as earth, paper, wood, and stone to create a tranquil space.
The furniture is also furnished with masterpieces of Japanese modernism, intending the space to go beyond the Japanese style.
In designing two semi-suite rooms from the existing three rooms under the condition of low ceiling height, the project proposed two types of rooms: Japanese-style rooms and Western-style rooms.
In the Japanese-style room, the height was further varied with a lowered ceiling to create a room that revives the eye level of the zataku in past Japanese-style rooms, and a space that proposes a sin Japanese-style room setup.
