At nottuo, we’ve had the pleasure of partnering with the private forest “Shinkitsu” on their branding and business card design since its inception.
To celebrate their 3rd anniversary, we designed a special commemorative matchbox as a limited-edition novelty.
Following last year’s coaster, this anniversary item continues the series of Shinkitsu goods.
Since campfires are essential to camping, we proposed matches as a practical yet meaningful item.
While the goal was to encourage repeat visits, the client passionately said, “If we’re making it, let’s make something truly bold and cool.”
Inspired by the rawness of the untouched forest, we deliberately left the surface completely unprinted, instead using a paper with a rock-like texture laminated across the entire box.
The result is a matchbox that blends naturally into the forest like a stone when placed by the riverbank, yet exudes a striking presence when seen in everyday life.
Shinkitsu celebrated its third anniversary on October 8, 2025, and the matches will be available until mid-November, with an exclusive discount offer for those who receive one.
Located just two hours by car from Osaka, this private forest retreat is well worth a visit.
